Second Debt (Indebted #3) by Pepper Winters

"You're inside me, Nila Weaver — as surely as I'm inside you." Firstly, whaaaaat!? I started reading Second Debt and thought that perhaps this book might ease up a little … ridiculous really, this is Pepper and Pepper doesn’t ease up at all. I mean, this is a reread, I know the story and yet I still yelled when it ended! Nila and Jethro really go through it in this instalment. Nila makes a discovery that really does bring home exactly what this whole situation is about and I honestly felt like this is where reality set in for her. There was no escape, there was no way out. Jethro continues to battle with what he wants and what is expected of him. His father continues to dominate and attempt to control him, we see him seal himself and Nila in a whole new way and that’s all before we get to the Second Debt . I’m not going to spoil the story but what I will say is, I don’t think I’ve ever been so anxious or tense while reading before. They weren’t lying when they said ...

First Debt (Indebted #2) by Pepper Winters

“Do your worst, Jethro Hawk. I’m ready to pay your First Debt.” I wasn't sure about this series to begin with. While reading Debt Inheritance I didn't love Jethro, Nila mostly infuriated me and I found the whole idea of the story hard to believe—and yes, I’m fully aware it’s fiction, but even with fiction everyone has limits, don't they? However ... As I read First Debt , I couldn't help but get sucked further into the Indebted world and as the story unfolded I found myself falling for Jethro and cheering for Nila—proof to me that Pepper Winters has an exceptional talent to turn the readers feelings around and drag you into the world she’s created. This book goes deeper into the absolute craziness of the Hawk/Weaver world. We learn a little more about what is expected of Nila when it comes to the Debts and Pepper drip feeds us hints about Jethro—about his ‘condition’ and about his twisted and volatile relationship with his family. During the course of the book, Nila w...

The Saint (The Original Sinners Series book five) by Tiffany Reisz

“You're not a normal priest, are you?' This book deserves so many more than 5 stars. No one makes me feel as much as Tiffany does with her stories. The whole time I am reading, nothing else exists. I struggle to sum up eloquently what this book is for me. It goes beyond saying it’s my favourite of the entire series, it’s much more than a favourite book of mine. It’s like this book lives within me. Like it’s weaved within my very being. The Saint will take your heart out and stamp all over it, then hand it back to you, only to do it all over again... and you'll want it to happen. There are so many parts to it that I find deeply personal and that cause me so many emotions—I always feel so raw after I finish this book and that for me, is what makes Tiffany the exceptional writer that she is. Getting an insight into Nora and Søren's life together, is like being granted access to something you have only ever dreamed about. I gasped at the end of every chapter (I'm not j...

Debt Inheritance (Indebted #1) by Pepper Winters

“You live in a fairytale, princess and I’m about to destroy it.” It’s been six years since I first met Jethro and Nila and during that time, I’ve found myself thinking about them often as my best friend (who first introduced me to Jethro) absolutely loves this series and we’ll often find ourselves chatting about it. I found it a very different experience rereading the series than when I first read it. Having the knowledge of where it goes—even if it is a little cloudy from time—means I know the development these characters have and the journey they go on. From a personal point, I also know the series goes from a three to a five star read for me. Jethro Hawk is a complicated character, there is absolutely no doubt about that and I'll admit, he's a character I struggled to like in this book. He’s cold, he’s a bully and to begin with, there wasn’t a lot I liked. The things I felt when I originally read the story remained somewhat, but I think that in this case, knowing who Jethro ...

Cor Amare (Luna #2) by Pepper Winters

“Someday...but not today,” There’s no doubt that Pepper has a unique ability to create worlds and characters that you haven’t met before. She writes love with an intensity that burns from the page and sears soul-mates together for eternity and this story is no different. I really wanted to love this duet—I loved the idea of everything being surrounded by water, that the love story span a lifetime and I adored the way in which the story was told. But Cor Amare left me feeling a little like the first one did, that it didn’t quite deliver on what I hoped for. Cor Amare picks up exactly where we left off in Lunamare —Aslan is on the run and Neri is trying to pick up the pieces and keep him safe. The story is a whirlwind for many chapters and then Pepper lulls us into a place of presumed safety … which of course doesn’t last for long. Strangely I found Aslan most likeable when he was apart from Neri and trying to survive his ordeal. I found his strength and sheer determination to fight in...

The Mistress (The Original Sinners Series book four) by Tiffany Reisz

“It was paradise …” She smiled through her tears. “And paradise had a wall around it.” The Mistress  picks up where  The Prince  left off and once again, I devoured this book and I have no regrets. I adored the side we saw to Søren in The Mistress . He always seemed untouchable, that very little phased him—a strong dominant man. Yet once Nora is taken and he is helpless, you see a little more of the gentle, vulnerable side and it was truly beautiful to read.  There were so many moments when reading that I was in tears. It is so beautifully written that you feel the emotions Nora is living. Each chapter, each page, each word is art. Pure, beautiful, unapologetic, art. The character development, the plot twists, the way you go from sheer dread to joy in mere minutes. You understand a little more the relationship between Søren and Kingsley. It’s a complex one, yet one that is beautiful in its own way. I won't spoil the story, but the note Søren leaves Kingsley gave me g...
