The Literary Puff

It’s universally known that the more forbidden something is, the more desirable it becomes. This is my first—but certainly not my last— Pam Godwin book. And once again, I have my best friend to thank for getting me to finally read this story. It’s been on my TBR list for a long time, and for me, those books always seem to be the ones I end up loving the most. It’s almost like, my heart knows they’re THAT good and saves them for when I really need them. Anyway, THIS BOOK . It goes without saying that the sexual tension was off the charts from the second they met and it didn’t let up. Their connection was intense and wild and at no point did I feel that it wasn’t right. “If I have a soul, it's yours.” This is another re-read for me and one that I have absolutely loved. My love for The Professor started way back in 2013 when I read Gabriel’s Inferno for the first time, I’ve reread him many times since then, but as has happened with a lot of my rereads recently, I’ve rediscovered just how much I love them and have found I appreciate them on a much deeper level—perhaps it’s age? Perhaps it’s therapy? I don’t know but I adore it. It’s like discovering them for the first time again in a lot of ways and truly feels like a gift. “Victory is sweet.” I’m sure if you know K. Bromberg’s name, you’ll most likely to know her for the incredible creation that is Colton Donovan. Her Driven series is the only racing books I have ever read, so when I saw she was releasing a new series in the motor-racing world, I knew I had to read it. This one started off slowly for me (I’m not entirely sure if it’s just because of the kinds of books I’ve been reading though) I liked it, but I didn’t love it. But I knew Kristy would deliver and she absolutely did! I really liked Camila—she’s funny, feisty and strong (even if she doesn’t think so at times) I adored her relationship with Elise. more than with her other girlfriends actually, and of course, I adored the relationship with her dad too. “Live for me. Breathe for me. Come back to life for me.” How a book series can go from strength to strength on this scale is beyond me. This book just flew by for me. I couldn’t put it down the first time I read it and I couldn’t put it down this time. I'm reading, I’m piecing it all together and it’s slowly beginning to feel like I get it. So, why do I feel like I don't actually understand it at all? That there is more coming in The Final Debt than we’ve been lead to believe there is and that it’s going to knock me on my butt? And most importantly, why does that excite me as much as it does? This book is so cleverly written—each page haemorrhages emotion the bleed from the pages and soak into your very being. The details that fill every chapter carry the characters and the plot racing towards the finale and I wasn’t entirely sure I wanted it to get there but was also desperate to get there in equal torturous measures. “It was paradise …” She smiled through her tears. “And paradise had a wall around it.” The Mistress  picks up where  The Prince  left off and once again, I devoured this book and I have no regrets. I adored the side we saw to Søren in The Mistress . He always seemed untouchable, that very little phased him—a strong dominant man. Yet once Nora is taken and he is helpless, you see a little more of the gentle, vulnerable side and it was truly beautiful to read.  There were so many moments when reading that I was in tears. It is so beautifully written that you feel the emotions Nora is living. Each chapter, each page, each word is art. Pure, beautiful, unapologetic, art. The character development, the plot twists, the way you go from sheer dread to joy in mere minutes. You understand a little more the relationship between Søren and Kingsley. I feel like The Siren made such an impact on me that I didn’t really expect The Angel to be able to follow it. I was wrong. Baring in mind this review comes after another reread and not after my first read, (also taking into consideration that I have gone on to read the entire series so I know where it’s going) it’s in this story that the plot starts to take shape and breadcrumbs begin to gather in earnest. This book cleverly covers characters we briefly meet in The Siren and some we don’t. It most definitely throws you into the darkness from the beginning and will test your tolerance for all things kink—hold on tight, I promise you it’s worth it. This book has some truly heartbreaking moments and there was more than one occasion I was left with tears streaming down my face and struggling to take a breath. The Chamber of Secrets picks up where the  The Philosopher's Stone ends.   We find Harry on his summer holidays from Hogwarts and having, as we have come to expect, a horrible time back at No4. Much to Harry’s surprise, he’s rescued by the Weasley’s in the middle of the night and whisked away to stay at the Burrow for the remainder of the summer holidays. Can I please spend the summer at the Burrow, too!? Nothing in this book seems to go smoothly, Harry has a lot to deal with and the story progresses a little deeper and a little darker. We meet the young Lord Voldemort for the first time and learn a little more about Hagrid and why he was expelled from Hogwarts. This book includes some much loved characters—mainly Dobby—and has some funny and heartwarming moments. As with the first, the tapestry of Harry’s world is richly woven and you’re left wanting more and more. On to Prisoner of Azkaban we go!
