Twisted Together (Monsters in the Dark #3) by Pepper Winters

One entity. One destination. One goal.

Oh, Maître Q ... where do I start?

Once again, Pepper pushes your limits and keeps pushing.

Having said that, I found this instalment much less heavy than I found Quintessentially Q. That’s not to say it doesn’t have heavy, dark and sickening moments, because of course it does, but I think they seemed less than what was dealt in Quintessentially Q.

It’s no secret to those who know me, that one of my biggest hates is when an author changes what drew me to the story in the first place. When they make it dark, only to shine so much light on it, it becomes blinding. I desperately want an author to stay true to the bare bones of their story and their characters, and thankfully, Pepper did.

As with the previous two books in this series, it's not an easy read. There were certain scenes that turned my stomach. I was on the edge of my seat, hoping and praying for revenge... you'll have to read it to find out if it was granted.

I adore the strength Q and Tess draw from each other. It’s deep, it’s intense and it’s uniquely theirs. This book took them to places that more than challenged them and I love the people they become in this instalment. I enjoyed seeing Franco and Tess’s relationship develop too. There’s been a little tension between them from the very beginning but in this instalment, that changed and I really loved it.

Pepper has an exceptional talent at turning the most unusual stories into ones that stay with you forever, ones you crave to read more of. She creates beautifully flawed characters that capture your heart and refuse to let go. She pulls you into the darkness and you go willingly, you need to follow... you have no choice but to follow. Or at least, I didn’t and I regret nothing.

Since my very first read of Q and Tess many years ago, they have been firmly cemented in my heart. I think of them often and when I do, it’s with love, affection and I'll admit it, a little jealousy that they're fictional. Because I truly would love to have Tess as a friend. She’s fierce and loyal and absolutely incredible—most definitely one of my favourite heroines of all time.

I'm delighted to say, Q earns his rightful place in my top five book boyfriends of all time—well done, Mr. Mercer, my list very rarely changes but you’ve breached the fence and taken your place amongst some other delightful (sadly) fictional men.

I'm left wanting to know more—so I know the job has been well done well.

Until next time, Maître Q

Needless to say, if you’re unsure if dark is for you, then please do your research and read the trigger warnings for this book.

It’s not light. It’s not fluffy. Please read responsibly.

You can find trigger warnings on Pepper's website.

Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

“I think you have to have faith in people before they earn it. Otherwise it's not faith, right?” It’s not often (probably never for most people) that you find a book that, for a good 75% of the book, you dislike 99% of the characters in it and yet, YOU KEEP READING. It seems utterly ridiculous to even say that about a book that I have given 5 stars to, I get it. But it’s how I felt reading this book and it’s a testament to the absolute artistry that is the writing of this story for me. It’s not my typical read and if any other book was like this, it would be left unfinished. I see no shame in not finishing a book you don’t love. There are too many wonderful books out there to discover, why read something you don’t wholeheartedly adore? And yet … The writing and story telling of these incredibly flawed and complex characters had me unable to put it down—I mean that, I read it in less than 48 hours—I just HAD to know what happened, I was fully invested even though I felt no real conn...

Fueled (book two) by K. Bromberg

Incredible .  Colton and Rylee’s story continues in book two of the  Driven   Series and it goes from strength to strength. There were so many, so many parts in this story that had me actually growling at my kindle. Colton can truly be the most infuriating male in the book world sometimes. But I get it. And so will you. As is always the case with K.Bromberg , you’ll get a heap load of emotions and sexiness but it’s not all the story is. There is a complicated and deep story woven throughout and it’s beautiful to read. There are some utterly heartbreaking moments that left me breathless and with tears streaming down my face, but there were also many, many moments of absolute belly laughing and that’s truly what I need from a book. Everything . There are few books that make me throw my kindle, only to go right back and pick it up, because I just had to know what was going to happen. And then it did …   I LOVE this series.

Cor Amare (Luna #2) by Pepper Winters

“Someday...but not today,” There’s no doubt that Pepper has a unique ability to create worlds and characters that you haven’t met before. She writes love with an intensity that burns from the page and sears soul-mates together for eternity and this story is no different. I really wanted to love this duet—I loved the idea of everything being surrounded by water, that the love story span a lifetime and I adored the way in which the story was told. But Cor Amare left me feeling a little like the first one did, that it didn’t quite deliver on what I hoped for. Cor Amare picks up exactly where we left off in Lunamare —Aslan is on the run and Neri is trying to pick up the pieces and keep him safe. The story is a whirlwind for many chapters and then Pepper lulls us into a place of presumed safety … which of course doesn’t last for long. Strangely I found Aslan most likeable when he was apart from Neri and trying to survive his ordeal. I found his strength and sheer determination to fight in...
