Once a Myth (Goddess Isles #1) by Pepper Winters

Patience was a virtue. Patience was a gift. Patience will grant my freedom.

This one was a surprise.

I went in without knowing anything about it, I one-clicked because Pepper writes the kind of books I can get lost in. By going in blind, I felt like Eleanor—knowing nothing, seeking answers and confused as to what was going on.

It’s not an easy story to review because it’s a complicated, twisted, confusing story. You start our appalled, then you’re angry, then confused, ending up curious about what exactly is going on and what the famous elixir does.

Eleanor is wild. There’s no other way to describe her. She’s feisty and opinionated and from what we see in this book, will not go down without a fight and I adore her for that.

Sully is, as all Pepper’s men are, complex and dark. He’s tortured and living a lie that he orchestrates himself to keep himself safe … or so he tells himself.

There is undeniable chemistry, their connection sizzles from the page and dare I say I found the elixir kind of liberating for women? To be able to stand naked and be proud and not ashamed to ask for what you want? Wouldn’t we all like a little of that?

As always, Pepper likes to push boundaries and fill her pages with topics that make you not only feel uncomfortable but make you think. She blurs the lines and leaves you questioning yourself—and I rather like that level of escapism.

This devilish book gets three stars from me. I’m off to download the next book and discover where this story goes next.

Needless to say, if you’re unsure if dark is for you, then please do your research and read the trigger warnings for this book.

It’s not light. It’s not fluffy. Please read responsibly.

You can find trigger warnings on Pepper's website.

Driven (book one) by K. Bromberg

You know when you discover something so fantastic you wish you'd known about it your whole life? This is one of those books. I discovered K.Bromberg early into her writing career and haven’t looked back since.   At first when I started reading I thought I knew what kind of book this was going to be. You meet Rylee and you learn pretty quickly she’s a force to be reckoned with. She’s fierce brave and strong and I love that. You get introduced to Colton very early and he appears to be like so many other alpha males in romance books. Oh, how wrong I was. As the story unfolds, you realise that for all his bluster and dirty talk, Colton is a damaged and deeply feeling guy who doesn’t know how to let anyone in. Their chemistry is insane and the push-pull of their relationship will have you longing for more. It’s a deeply emotional story and one that I have read a number of times and fall more in love with each time I read it. It is without a doubt one of the best trilogies out th...

Gabriel's Inferno (Gabriel's Inferno #1) by Sylvain Reynard

“If I have a soul, it's yours.” This is another re-read for me and one that I have absolutely loved. My love for The Professor started way back in 2013 when I read Gabriel’s Inferno for the first time, I’ve reread him many times since then, but as has happened with a lot of my rereads recently, I’ve rediscovered just how much I love them and have found I appreciate them on a much deeper level—perhaps it’s age? Perhaps it’s therapy? I don’t know but I adore it. It’s like discovering them for the first time again in a lot of ways and truly feels like a gift. There are so many reasons I love this series and it’s going to be really difficult to sufficiently put into words just how much this book means to me. You see, when a series has been with you through a really difficult time, for me anyway, it attaches itself to your soul. It becomes a part of you and this series is most definitely a part of me. Gabriel has, since the first time I met him, been one of my top five (possibly top t...

Dark Notes by Pam Godwin

It’s universally known that the more forbidden something is, the more desirable it becomes. This is my first—but certainly not my last— Pam Godwin book. And once again, I have my best friend to thank for getting me to finally read this story. It’s been on my TBR list for a long time, and for me, those books always seem to be the ones I end up loving the most. It’s almost like, my heart knows they’re THAT good and saves them for when I really need them. Anyway, THIS BOOK . It goes without saying that the sexual tension was off the charts from the second they met and it didn’t let up. Their connection was intense and wild and at no point did I feel that it wasn’t right. Ivory is an incredibly strong female lead—which I adored. Her fierceness was fantastic to read and her strength to keep going no matter how difficult it got made me want to yell in joy. I felt her turmoil and struggles so clearly and I felt like I understood them a little too. Emeric … wow . That man is a furnace. From ...
