Quintessentially Q (Monsters in the Dark #2) by Pepper Winters

There was nothing left. Who could love me when I was a devil’s protégé?

I’m pretty proud to say, that although I read a lot of books and fall in lust a lot, my top three book men never shifts

Sometimes the remaining two spaces that make up my top five do, but the top three? Never. Change. So, imagine my surprise when I dived head first into Pepper Winters Monsters in the Dark series, and fell for the moody, dark and frankly terrifyingly dangerous Q Mercer.

After finishing Tears of Tess, I immediately downloaded Quintessentially Q. I was left longing to know more about this truly unique couple. I wanted to know where they went from there and how on earth they got their ‘happily ever after’ (which I understand is not for everyone. But it’s a big factor for me. I NEED them to be happy at the end of a series. It doesn’t need to be ‘traditionally happy’ they just need to be happy)

I’ve been drawn to this series in ways I haven’t been to anything in a long, long time. When you literally can’t put it down because it’s completely consuming you and even when you’re made to put it down, you’re thinking about them all the time.

In this instalment, Pepper takes us even further into the dark. We as readers, are pushed to the limit much like Tess is. I had moments of wanting to stop reading, just to try and work through the barrage of feelings these characters and their circumstances made me feel. There was twist after twist, turn after turn and my stomach and heart couldn’t cope with it at times.

I won’t give any spoilers, (if you want them… they are out there for you to find) what I will say though is that this is much darker then Tess. It’s a much more uncomfortable read. There are topics that aren’t easy to swallow and moments so grim you’ll question yourself as to why you’re reading them. And yet I found this one more addictive. I needed the next page like because without it, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to breathe freely and I loved every single second of it.

When you find an author who can make you feel every emotion while reading and who keeps you on the edge of your seat, it makes reading an absolute joy—Pepper is that author.

* Please be aware that this book comes with a lot of trigger warnings which can be found on Pepper Winter’s website. *

Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

“I think you have to have faith in people before they earn it. Otherwise it's not faith, right?” It’s not often (probably never for most people) that you find a book that, for a good 75% of the book, you dislike 99% of the characters in it and yet, YOU KEEP READING. It seems utterly ridiculous to even say that about a book that I have given 5 stars to, I get it. But it’s how I felt reading this book and it’s a testament to the absolute artistry that is the writing of this story for me. It’s not my typical read and if any other book was like this, it would be left unfinished. I see no shame in not finishing a book you don’t love. There are too many wonderful books out there to discover, why read something you don’t wholeheartedly adore? And yet … The writing and story telling of these incredibly flawed and complex characters had me unable to put it down—I mean that, I read it in less than 48 hours—I just HAD to know what happened, I was fully invested even though I felt no real conn...

Fueled (book two) by K. Bromberg

Incredible .  Colton and Rylee’s story continues in book two of the  Driven   Series and it goes from strength to strength. There were so many, so many parts in this story that had me actually growling at my kindle. Colton can truly be the most infuriating male in the book world sometimes. But I get it. And so will you. As is always the case with K.Bromberg , you’ll get a heap load of emotions and sexiness but it’s not all the story is. There is a complicated and deep story woven throughout and it’s beautiful to read. There are some utterly heartbreaking moments that left me breathless and with tears streaming down my face, but there were also many, many moments of absolute belly laughing and that’s truly what I need from a book. Everything . There are few books that make me throw my kindle, only to go right back and pick it up, because I just had to know what was going to happen. And then it did …   I LOVE this series.

Cor Amare (Luna #2) by Pepper Winters

“Someday...but not today,” There’s no doubt that Pepper has a unique ability to create worlds and characters that you haven’t met before. She writes love with an intensity that burns from the page and sears soul-mates together for eternity and this story is no different. I really wanted to love this duet—I loved the idea of everything being surrounded by water, that the love story span a lifetime and I adored the way in which the story was told. But Cor Amare left me feeling a little like the first one did, that it didn’t quite deliver on what I hoped for. Cor Amare picks up exactly where we left off in Lunamare —Aslan is on the run and Neri is trying to pick up the pieces and keep him safe. The story is a whirlwind for many chapters and then Pepper lulls us into a place of presumed safety … which of course doesn’t last for long. Strangely I found Aslan most likeable when he was apart from Neri and trying to survive his ordeal. I found his strength and sheer determination to fight in...
